VICINITY project at “SIS-IoT: Semantic Interoperability and Standardization in the IoT”, organised by Universidad Politecnica de Madrid (UPM)

Monday, September 11, 2017 (All day)
Amsterdam, Netherlands

The main objective of the SIS-IoT workshop is to bring SDOs and industrial practitioners in IoT with an interest in semantic interoperability together with the strong and successful research community at SEMANTiCS 2017 to discuss current trends and challenges in Semantic Interoperability and Standardization in IoT.

UPM in collaboration with TNO, STI Innsbruck, Telecom Italia and Nokia organized the first edition of the Semantic Interoperability and Standardization in the IoT (SIS-IoT) workshop.

The workshop was supported by two H2020 projects (VICINITY and ENTROPY) and other consortia: ETSI, oneM2M and AIOTI.

The workshop included a keynote speech delivered by Omar Elloumi -  the “IoT Evangelist of the Year” -, five research paper presentations, and a panel with experts from the research community and industry.

Conference Feedback

Even if the VICINITY project didn’t have a presentation itself, due to the fact that it was one of the organizers of the workshop, the topics of different papers and the panel dealt with challenges being dealt within the project (ontologies, query federation, semantic interoperability approaches).
